An historic vineyard house in Ankara, the Atatürk Museum Mansion has become to be known as the “Atatürk Mansion” after the establishment of the Republic. In 1921 Atatürk made several changes to the building and began to use it as his headquarters during the war, and subsequently during the implementation of his reforms –as such the mansion is a primary witness of the Republic period. The building is also valuable as the location where many historical events took place. Using on-site observations and investigations, this study aims to make a scientific assessment of the furniture and interior of the “Entrance Hall”, an area of the building that since the 1923 renovation has served as the entrance hall. The study revealed that the rectangular entrance hall has a light-colored wooden lath ceiling, hand-decorated in the “Hatai” style. The furniture, made of walnut-wood, is in the French Neo-Classical (XVI. Louis) style, with the legs decorated with wood lathe and carvings. The furniture of the hall is compatible with present numerical values in terms of ergonomics as well as anthropometric criteria.
