The effects and the foundations of the grid planning, with the social, economical and intellectual reasons considered, have been studied through various civilizations' city examples built in different geographical regions. It has been investigated whether the grid planning's relation established with Hippodamos and democracy was utilized in other grid planned cities. As a result of this work, it has been observed that, since the beginning, grid planning has been implemented for very different needs and demands related to social, intellectual and economical reasons.
